It was a pleasure to visit The Sash Window Workshop’s manufacturing plant in Bracknell this week, alongside Sukh from the Landmark Group. Seeing a successful, multi-million turnover UK company firsthand was inspiring, especially hearing about the journey from the Managing Director, Richard Dollar.

The tour was a masterclass in craftsmanship and technology. We saw the entire process, from raw timber to finished product, as their team seamlessly crafted bespoke sash windows, casement windows, and doors. It was particularly impressive to watch their robotic arm apply a meticulous spray finish, ensuring a high-quality result every time.

This visit was also valuable for my work. As a surveyor, I often come across beautiful but drafty original sash windows in London and the Southeast. I now feel much better equipped to advise my clients. Learning that individual sashes can be repaired or replaced and that the team offers a professional draught-proofing service will give my customer options. This simple update can significantly improve a home’s Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating, adding real value for homeowners looking to sell.
